If you’ve ever hired a skip anywhere before, you’ll know the drill: you get given a delivery day, you rearrange your morning around it, and then you sit indoors keeping half an eye out the window for the lorry. Sometimes it’s mid-morning. Sometimes it’s just before school pickup. And sometimes you nip out for milk and come back to a skip-shaped surprise on the drive.

We’ve just fixed that.

From today, every customer who books a skip with The DP Group will get an automatic SMS the moment our lorry sets off for their address. No more waiting in wondering. No more guessing whether we’ve forgotten. Just a simple text that lets you know we’re on the way.

What the text actually says

Nothing complicated — just what you need:

Hi, Your skip delivery is ON WAY and will arrive shortly. Thank you for choosing The DP Group.

That’s it. Short and useful.

When you’ll get the message

You’ll get an On Way text for every movement of your skip — not just the initial drop-off. So that covers:

• Skip deliveries — when we set off with your empty skip on the way to your address.
• Skip exchanges — when we’re on the way to swap a full one for a fresh empty one.
• Skip collections — when we’re heading over to pick a full skip back up.

If you’ve got a skip on hire with us across multiple stages, you’ll get a text at each one.

Do you need to do anything?

Nothing. If you’ve booked online through our website, or over the phone with the office, we already have your mobile number — and it’ll happen automatically. No signing up, no ticking a box.

If you’d rather not receive the texts (some people don’t), just let the office know when you book and we’ll switch it off for your job.

Why we’ve done this

Because it’s genuinely one of the most useful things we can do for customers, and honestly, we should have done it sooner.

Skip hire is a service where the timing matters. You’ve probably got a project going on around it — a builder waiting to load up rubble, a garden clearance mid-flow, a moving day where everything’s on a schedule. Knowing when the skip’s actually going to turn up means you can carry on with the rest of your day instead of standing at the window.

It also means fewer missed deliveries where the customer wasn’t quite ready, fewer “when will you be here?” phone calls to our office, and fewer trucks tied up going back later. Better for you, better for us, better for the routing of the whole fleet.
